Of course you can. All I'm saying is: Cobalt Solution: Cobalt Cube: $300 (on eBay)
W2K3 Solution: (1) license for Win2K3 Standard Server w/ 5 CALs = $799 (2) Misc. server or desktop computer to host the server = $500 (3) Add $40 for each CAL you need after the initial 5. Of course Win2K3 gives you the added benefits of being a AD controller, Print Server, and frequent target of security exploits.... Of course, the initial question was just for a mail server for a small company.... What do I know? =) Another option is NTMail by Gordano. I've used it before and is pretty rock-solid for a Win32 POP3 server. As I remember, it was about $630 for the server and 50 CALs. It will run on NT 3.51 and newer. The unit is administered through a webpage, so admin overhead is minimal.
