See I figured it was a rDNS thingy since the Host for the Zone Record does
some really ^*)&))(*( things

If you where to telnet to mail.kahanandstark.com 25

And HELO you will see it comes up as the Zone Record hosting party and NOT
the server directly
Seemed kinda of screwed up to me
Yet if you dnstuff the domain name it appears kinda ok (cname) shows the
correct server public IP

So that's why I fugred AOL was bouncing so much back cause the rDNS was not
say "just so..."

Are you sure they block on a lack of a match? Or, do they only block if the
rDNS fails?

Ours do not match, and I'm sure if AOL were bouncing our mail, at least one
of our 4000 users would have noticed.

Unless they have changed they do not look at the message envelope or 'from'
against the PTR. They look at the HELO your server sends and then look at
the rDNS for the connection IP. If they do not match they drop it.

Hopefully you have Exch 2003. If so the fix is easy. Find out what the rDNS
is for your public sending IP address. Hit your SMTP virtual server
properties under Delivery then hit advanced. Set the masquerade domain to
match the rDNS of your public sending IP. The masquerade domain will then be
what your server HELO's with and you are good to go.

If you have 2000 or 5.5 then get the ISP's to change the rDNS on the sending
IP addies to match your HELO, easier that way.

What they are doing is not RFC compliant, for the record. It is recomended
that you have mathcing HELO vs rDNS but the RFC specifically says do not
block based upon a mismatch.
