Well, thankfully, I'm in the tech group that has complete authority over the
entire forest. I have the root domain Administrator password, and I've
granted Exchange Full Administrator rights to just myself and one other
person. The various orgs have no problem with that - they just want control
over their own domain and their own Exchange server. They don't want
lower-level techies from the other domains messing in theirs, but they're
happy to have us super-geeks in charge (at least for now).

Which is why my department was founded in the first place, back around 1987
or so. The six orgs realized they were just duplicating each others' efforts
with all the IT folks everywhere, so they got together and founded our
department. These guys were buddies out of the office, too - playing golf
together, etc. Now, the execs from those 6 orgs have been replaced with guys
that don't want to be so chummy, and want their own IT staff, servers,
domains, etc. They realize that having one forest for everybody is a good
idea, but they want their own hardware, and control over it.

So, onward I plunge, and making some progress, too. Still a few things that
just plain don't work right, but that's par.

Thanks for the comments, guys.
