Is this an online restore?
Don't restore the directory.
Restore only the IS to that server.
After the restore is done, run the IS/DS consistency adjuster. Go the
mailboxes you need, assoc them with your account and open in Outlook.

Subject: RE: old 5.5 data needed.

I'm having real difficulties recovering this data.

I used an old PC and installed NT4+SP6, member server, same name as old
server.
The Ex5.5 install needs to be part of a domain, so I join the server to our
domain.
Install Ex5.5, apply sp4.
Same Site and Org as before.
I create an account and can login with with outlook.

>From another server (one with the tape drive and backupexec + exchange
agent)
I start the restore of the directory and store.

what is the next step ?

I tried starting services but got error 1067, I did some eseutil runs, but
to be frankl, I don't really know what I;m foing with this util.

I've just started the restore again, so I hope to have better error messages
to post in a hour or so.

any help is appreciated, I have to find some emails which have possible
legal ramifications.

Is it possible to extract data with out exchange ? direct from the database
?
