GFI have some tools for this. www.gfi.com We use the Network Server Monitor, I like it as I can write vbscripts and use them as tests. eg I have a script which use WMI to check the status of services and alerts me if any services set to start automatically, stop. Another to check Exchange is responding correctly.
There are several enhancment II'd like to see, but on the whole I like it.
