So, there's no issue of crossing versions when migrating mailboxes? It
works smoothly?

Thanks,

Matt

I hate in-place upgrades. You could make the swing server an Exchange
2003 server, or when you reinstall the old server, do so with Exchange
2003.

One last thing:

This seems like a good time to do an upgrade to 2003, but I'm assuming
that I'd need to do an in-place upgrade to 2003, then create a swing
2003 server, uninstall and then reinstall the initial server and move
the mailboxes back. Sound about right?

Thanks,

Matt

Well, having seen things listed here and in reading through
documentation when initially installing 2000, that seemed like it might
be the way we'd have to go. Thanks for the info, folks!

No, but of course you could always add a swing server, move the
mailboxes over, reinstall and move the mailboxes back to the reinstalled
server in the new admin group etc...

I was afraid of that. If you were to upgrade to 2003 from 2000, is
there a way during that process to change the Administrative Group that
the server belongs to or will it merely stick with the settings that
2000 has?

Thanks,

Matt

There is no "supported" way other than reinstalling AFAIK.

I've not yet been able to find any info that says whether it is possible
to move an Exchange server from one Administrative Group to another. Is
this even possible? I'm afraid I'm going to wind up having to
reinstall, which I'd like to avoid at all costs.

Thanks,

Matt
