Exchange native mode is completely independent of Windows native mode. Either an Exchange native mode or mixed mode organization may reside in either a mixed mode or native mode Windows domain.
Here's a handy matrix which you may keep for future reference: Exchange Mode Windows Functional Level Supported? ------------- ------------------------ ---------- Mixed Windows 2000 Mixed Yes Mixed Windows 2000 Native Yes Mixed Windows 2003 Yes Native Windows 2000 Mixed Yes Native Windows 2000 Native Yes Native Windows 2003 Yes Hope this helps! Trying to run the ADMT on our test system it says active directory must be in native not mixed mode. The use of native and mixed mode on both Exchange and on active directory confuses me. Are they Completely separate and they have used the same names? Inextricably connected? Somewhere scarily between the two? Can anyone point me at a helpful article?
