Do you need it if you have 4GB?

The /3GB switch is only needed when Exchange 2000 is running on windows
2000
"advanced server" and you have >2GB of RAM. Does not apply to standard
server.

Since you only have 1 you should not need the switch.

Hi Ed!!

I haven't been out here in a while and it is good to hear from you.
Thanks
for the reply.

We are running Windows 2000 Advanced server. 1GB or RAM.

Should we also set this?

If the server is running Windows 2000, you should set the SystemPages
registry key to a value between 24000 and 31000. The SystemPages
registry
key is located in the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Memory Management\SystemPages

Thanks for your help.

When you have more than 2GB of RAM and you are running Windows 2000
Enterprise. If you are running Windows 2000 Standard, then take the
extra
RAM out.

I know it is recommended by Microsoft to put the /3GB switch on your
Exchange server, however, I also see a lot of literature that does not
support that recommendation.

Just wondering if anyone has any comments about this. Is this a good or
not
so good thing to put on an Exchange 2000 server?

What kinds of things can I expect when this is put on? Want to know the
good the bad the ugly.

Thanks!

Samantha
