Do these contacts work in Outlook? If not, you can fix it the way you describe, or add the X.500 address (other address type of "X500", no dot) to the recipient object in Active Directory.

Our CEO goes into OWA on the front-end server, gets into a new mail message, clicks on the To... Button, searches his contact list for a match, and under the "Email" column for the contact, he is presented with the X400 (or maybe it's the X500) address whenever that contact also happens to be in the Global Address List. He sends the message, and it doesn't get delivered. He has discovered that if he goes into regular Outlook 2003, deletes and then re-enters the SMTP address for that particular contact, saves the contact, then his OWA problems are fixed. I also suggested that he just first always use the GAL in OWA, but this is a CEO after all. What's going on here? Is there a better fix than him going through his 500+ contacts and re-entering the SMTP address so he can just use his Contacts list in OWA? And, even if he does do all that laborious work, will the problem come back and undo all he's fixed?
