Yes. I use BackupExec 9.1 and previous versions (previously). I have run
into a few instances where a backup wouldn't restore because it hadn't
verified and was corrupt. I now have verify on. I get some backup
failures because of it, but I am able to trace/fix the failures without
waiting for a restore.
Running verify does increase backup times, but they still complete well
within our window.
I'm not worried about wear and tear on my backup hardware. If it can't
take the load, it has no place in my enterprise. Losing my SQL,
Exchange, VM, or file servers due to an unusable backup would cost the
company way more than my current backup infrastructure. I have about
$50K or less in backup gear. We can lose a hundred times that on one
deal...
