The mailbox has to have a red X on it before you can reconnect it.
Right-click the mailbox store object and select Run Cleanup Agent (or
some
such).  Then, after refreshing the screen (F5) when the red X appears on
the
mailbox, try reconnecting the mailbox again.

The reconnect option is grayed out. Let me start all over again.
Somehow this user had two mailboxes.  One showed as Disabled in the AD
but
apparently that's where all her mail was going in and that's the one I
deleted thinking that it was disabled and creating issue to the active
mailbox.  So, I still see two mailboxes for the user in separate stores.
One is current and the other is the deleted one.  So the deleted one I
want
to restore but both show same username. Now can I create a new account
for
her with the different username and still be able to recover her deleted
mailbox.  Thanks much.

1) set up a user account with no mailbox

2) go to the mailbox in system manager and right click on it reconnect
nd
put in the user account you set up with no mailbox

you may have to wait between 1 and 2 for replication ...

I deleted a mailbox by mistake in Exchange 2k3 Ent.Ed.  How can I
recover
it?  My deletion setting for the mailboxes is set to 30 days.
