You say you are thirsty and I tell you to drink water. You say that you're not allowed to drink water because you're afraid that the water might poison you. Sorry, but you'll have to pay a nurse to give you an intravenous solution or a psychologist to help you overcome your fears. For either of those things, you're subscribed to the wrong list.

Of all people, I would expect a fellow IT person to understand that not every thing is black and white. Theorhetically you are correct, I was in a catch 22, but before you throw out snide comments, understand the situation. The server's store hasn't been maintained in a couple of years. Reapplying a service pack would have been too risky on what could be corrupted store. It's working as it is, but I don't trust it. This is one reason I am doing a migration to a new server instead of an upgrade on that server. So, the data is valuable. I am fiscally responsible, so I wanted to avoid having to pay MS $250 if I could get some answers here. I als didn't have a cc at the time. At any rate, I ran the ADC, it went fine. I installed 2003 to the 5.5 org, and it was fine. For anyone who may run into this problem again, as long as dsscope scan sees everything else ok, and you are SURE that you have sp3 or 4 on 5.5, but vercheck says you are not - run something like hfnetchk and let it tell you if you have sp3 or higher. Vercheck only looks at the serial-number attribute in the raw directory of the server properties. The build number may not have been updated when the service pack was applied. ---- If it's your ass and your company is unwilling to let you reapply a service pack or spend $249 to ensure your job and the availability of your system, why are you posting here? You should be posting on monster.com. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of > Steve B Posted At: Friday, February 18, 2005 3:39 AM Posted To: swynk > Conversation: dsscopescan is saying exchange 5.5 is not sp3 or higher > Subject: RE: dsscopescan is saying exchange 5.5 is not sp3 or higher > > > You also have to understand why this isn't an option ed. this is an > old server.
