I had found the same articles ... And have resolved to follow these steps. The question still remains in my mind though ... What do I do with these recipient policies and why does the internet mail wizard not work as it was supposed to ... The exdeploy has worked flawlessly to this point. It also seesm that there is conflicting advice in these articles but it is probably not really important in the end ... Namely do I remove the last exchange server first , remove replication connectors and THEN create the internet mail connectors; or should I swith internet connectors first then remove the ex5.5?
Also, what is the difference between an virtual smtp connector and and an smtp connector??? Do I need both, if not, what what is preferred option and why? It would seem that I only need an SMTP connector if configuring routing groups ... Otherwsie creating the appropriate recipient policies should add support for my multiple domains. Am I correct in assuming that my current ex2003 box will send/receive to internet if I redirect my firewall to it instead of my ex5.5 box now. I suppose that I can try this an see fairly quickly but if someone already knows it would help. Thanks once again for all your patience guys. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mike Lagase Sent: Wednesday, 23 February 2005 9:33 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Internet mail wizard A quick KB search found the following. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316886 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883407 -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 2:05 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Internet mail wizard I am at the stage where I want to decommission the 5.5 srvr, so what are the steps Do I remove the last exchange server from the admin group, move to Exchange native mode then run the internet mail wizard? What do I do with the existing recipient policies that exdeploy created? : They are as follows: Recipient Policy "Sydney" contains:- (&(mailNickname=*)(legacyExchangeDN=/O=Gekko Corporation/OU=Sydney/*)) Default Policy contains:- (mailnickname=*) Sydney is highest priority. What do I remove/edit? Do I still need the Sydney policy now that I have migrated off the 5.5? They're there for backward compatibility. You can, however, create additional recipient policies or modify the default policy, can't you? I'm not sure of the Internet Mail Wizard, but what you should be able to do is create an SMTP Connector to supersede your old Internet Mail Service, and on the incoming side change your MX and/or A records to route your incoming mail to your Exchange 2003 server. BUT...... I hope someone can help me! In the process of migrating from Ex 5.5 to 2003. Moved Mailboxes. PF etc. All works! Now I want to use the Internet Mail Wizard to configure SMTP for the server and decommission the 5.5 (basically it just acts as a bridgehead now since all PF and mailboxes have moved! When I run the wizard it will not allow me to enter additional domains (we have several domain names). I suspect this is because of multiple recipient policies. These have been generated but the exdeploy procedures automatically. They are as follows: Recipient Policy "Sydney" contains:- (&(mailNickname=*)(legacyExchangeDN=/O=Gekko Corporation/OU=Sydney/*)) Default Policy contains:- (mailnickname=*) Sydney is highest priority. What do I remove/edit? Do I still need the Sydney policy now that I have migrated off the 5.5? Thanks in anticipation.
