Is SSL still required on the back-end? Turn that off.

Subject: puzzling front-end problem

This is Exchange 2003 and Windows Server 2003. We had a single Exchange
server. SSL was required for OWA and it worked fine. We just created a
front-end server. When I go to the front-end server's IP address I am
prompted to log in -- I receive back the prompt that this page must be
viewed over a secure channel - I add https: to the URL and get "the page
cannot be displayed. The page ... is currently unavailable." What am I doing
wrong? Thanks very much.
