Yes, but you'll need to have it on a separate network with a clone of a domain controller. You can do both on the same box if you want.

Exchange 2003. We almost finished migrating from Exchange 5.5 to 2003. On the old 5.5 environment, I had a recovery system which I had built as a 5.5 system, which I could restore the private information store from our production 5.5 systems, to recover a mailbox. I know that I can restore a DB to a system for recovery, but I would like to have a standalone system that I can restore to from the remote systems. If I have one box that is separate with lots of disk space, then I don't have to allocate that space on the per server basis for recovery purposes. Can I still do this on Exchange 2003. We are looking at alternative backup solutions as well, but we still need a recovery mechanism for a mailbox when required.
