On a journaled mailbox information store, any message that is sent or
received by a mailbox that resides on that store gets archived. Any message.

Now if someone uses your Exchange server as an SMTP relay to send mail out,
then it won't be archived.

Subject: Question about journaling with Exchange Server 2003

I've read a bit about journaling, but I am a little unclear on if it works
only recipients within the Exchange domain. Does it track email that goes to
external SMTP servers as well? Is there a way to add this type of
functionality to Exchange 2003?

Thanks,
Erick
