The character set should be identified in the message headers.  You might
have to add that character set to your server or instruct the correspondent
to use a different character set.

Check the character set on a message that shows the problem and one that
doesn't. I remember having a similar issue once where a certain charset
would show little or no message body.
I cannot remember how I fixed it either.
