I think what you want to do is right-click the user object, select Exchange Tasks..., and then select Remove Exchange Attributes.
It might be safe to delete the server, but you should search TechNet for "maunally remove server", all words, choosing Exchange Server, 2000 or 2003, whichever gives you the best hits. I forgot these mailboxes were moved and I wiped the temp server. Now I have AD accounts with associated mailboxes that are gone. These are ex-employees so no big problem. I have two issues: 1. I didn't remove the temp server from the Exchange servers in AD. Is it safe to do it now that the server is gone? 2. When I delete a disconnected account (mark mailbox for deletion) the AD object/account is gone but I still see it on the GAL. Any ideas?
