Thanks for that KB article. That is the exact problems I am having here. It also explains the odd ball replication issues between DC's I have had of late.
I have uninstalled the hot fix and that seems to have calmed the SMTP version of the problem. I guess I need to decide on calling PSS for the TCP/IP hot fixes for my servers to permanently resolve. Miles, There is an issue with MS05-019 which, to make a long story short, will cause the symptoms that you are seeing, i.e. SMTP traffic to other sites halts after several hours or days. Its all dependent on the volume of traffic and configuration of the intermediate network hardware. Its an OS issue so it can potentially affect apps other than Exchange.
