Check the battery and firmware on your RAID card, if you are using one. LSI had firmware problems on some of the raid cards shipped with earlier PowerEdge 2600 machines. I don't know who builds the Compaq SMART-2 series of raid controllers, but check the firmware anyways.
Also, if you have added any other devices to the SCSI BUS, make sure that no more than 4 devices exist on a U320 or U160 scsi bus and that all devices are setup for auto-termination.
