Sure. You can have as many Exchange 5.5 organizations as you want in an NT
or Active Directory domain. Just don't try to join it to your Exchange 2000
organization, connect them via SMTP and use some third-party directory
synchronization method or an interorganizational ADC connection agreement if
you need to synchronize directories.

Their current domain and domain controllers are going away as they were
owned by a 3rd party. Is it possible to have them join our AD and still
have Exchange 5.5 and have us use Exchange 2000?
Thanks,
-Karl

Their Exchange 5.5 relies on their domain and their domain controllers.
Considering that you don't want their Exchange 5.5 to play with your
Exchange 2000 *** I would just set up a trust relationship between your 2000
AD forest and their 2000 AD forest.

*** pretty soon they will ask you how to make them play together

Subject: Exchange 2000 and 5.5

We currently run a windows 2000 active directory environment with Exchange
2000. We are in the process of taking over a company that runs 2000 servers
but exchange 5.5. We want them to be part of our current active directory
domain and to just create an ou for their organization off of the root.
Will the fact that they run exchagne 5.5. servers cause any problems in this
scenario? We are not trying to integrate the exchange enviroment, we are
looking for the ability to share files and other resources. Do I need to
somehow turn off the exchange 2000 integration?
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
