I worked for one of the big three automakers at their HQ. We made it virtually impossible for them to do anything like that. If it was discovered that they had (circumvented our security, etc), it was grounds for immediate termination.
Support policy was 10 minutes. If the problem on the PC wasn't solved within 10 minutes, it was redeployed via Ghost, and the apps were automagically deployed upon login. Currently (for the clients that want administrative access on their PCs), as soon as we have to troubleshoot a problem that points to virus, spyware, security, or anything related, we take it to the PTB, who usually agree to lock down security tighter. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Wohlgemuth, Mike Sent: Friday, July 01, 2005 11:22 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: general questions here at a county school board we have to give administrative privileges to our users (reasons why? everything from stupid business applications that require it to the "openness" of an educational institution ... i.e. teachers that expect to be able to try new apps )... however, all their documents and data are kept on a server; so the policy exists that if it takes more than a certain amount of time for our techs to figure out what is "wrong" with a users computer, then it just gets re-imaged ... i.e. all their custom apps are wiped out ... if a user is a constant problem, we contact their supervisor and show them the amount of time we are spending on this person and why ... mike -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of KennedyJim Sent: Thursday, June 30, 2005 2:15 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: general questions Here at the school it is different, but at my previous private employer it was completely prohibited in the employee handbook, without the expressed prior consent of IT.
