Ex: domain.com Root A record for domain.com is 1.1.1.1 MX record for domain.com points to mail.outsourcedmail.com A record for mail.outsourcedmail.com is 2.2.2.2 All 3 records are in the local AD DNS servers cache, which is what Exchange points too.
