Hi list,

I have what I think is a strange Exchange problem. The exchange server
is 2003 standard running on Windows 2000. Both all patched up. The
server is connected to a sonicwall router going out to the Internet. I
am wanting to mirror all of the clients data to an offsite NAS device
which is going through a VPN tunnel. Whenever I start the copy job it
saturates the bandwidth of course, but for some reason messages get
stuck in the outgoing mail queue. If I stop the copy process, the
messages remain stuck in the queue. If I try and restart SMTP service,
the service stops, but is unable to start-up again. I have to reboot
the server at this point.

Does anyone know why this might be happening? I would think that
messages could still leave the server, even if a good portion of the
outgoing bandwidth is being used... What do you think?

Thanks,

Julian
