No, but if you do it will analyze the store and attempt to create any missing accounts etc. It is referred to in the exmerge documentation. You can find the latest version on the pss ftp site, or it may be on one of the support CDs.
You don't have to use it though, I was just speculating that If you had already run it might have created/connected the account for you. Never heard of that. Hmmm. I just tried manually creating the account but Exchange doesn't seem to recognize it. -----Original Message----- From: ExchangeDiscussions [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, February 03, 2006 8:22 AM To: McCready, Robert Subject: RE: Exchange 2003 Restores I think you are drilling in too deep. Stop on the "Mailboxes" folder of the appropriate store and right click and "Run Cleanup Agent". Then you might need to right click it and "refresh" you should be able to scroll the mailboxes and find the disassociated mailbox (should have a red x) If you don't have the red x then it isn't disassociated and it thinks it knows who owns the mailbox. If you recreated the account using the MBConn.exe tool it will usually try to reconnect the account for you. If you look right below "Exchange Tasks" you should see "Reconnect" and "Purge". Both of those options will be grayed out unless the Cleanup agent has flagged the mailbox for deletion. When I right click, I have the option to MOVE mailbox, DELETE mailbox, or CONFIGURE Exchange attributes. The CONFIGURE options only allow me to turn POP3 on/off etc. No where do I see an option to associate an account with this mailbox??? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of ExchangeDiscussions Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 1:58 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Exchange 2003 Restores Don't do it in ADUC. Drill in to the store in Server Manager find the mailbox (sometimes might need to run cleanup) right click and reconnect the box with the new user account. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of McCready, Robert Posted At: Thursday, February 02, 2006 12:55 PM Posted To: ExchangeDiscussions Conversation: Exchange 2003 Restores Subject: RE: Exchange 2003 Restores I guess that's where I'm confused, Exchange 2003 isn't like Exchange 5.5. I created an account (no mailbox), but how would I connect it to the mailbox? The Exchange Tasks only allow me to Create Mailbox (new), not pick mailbox already existing??? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Pitt, Jeffrey Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 1:23 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Exchange 2003 Restores Create an account with out a mailbox and reconnect it to the new user account. I just did a complete restore of the information store. The problem is, the user I'm trying to recover email for did not have an Active Directory Account when the lab was built, so I can not access her mailbox. Anybody know any work around to get to her email? Thanks.
