I found SPF not being very effective. The original idea sounded pretty good, but then it didn't help me much. We have SPF verification on our Borderware boxes and we are only running it in the "log only" mode. When we tried to turn it on for real, it killed some valid mail.
I like this idea better. With this solution, messages can be tracked to a real sender with valid postal address/phone number: http://www.mujica.com/smtprm.aspx -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dickenson, Steven Sent: Tuesday, February 07, 2006 12:26 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: SPF Sorry, that last sentence should read: At this point, it's better to have no SPF records than incorrect ones. --- Steven Dickenson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Computer Network Manager The Key School, Annapolis Maryland -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dickenson, Steven Sent: Tuesday, February 07, 2006 12:24 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: SPF It's not that clear cut. SPF can present problems for users who forward their mail, as well as force your users to send all their outgoing mail through your SMTP servers. You need to examine these issues in depth before blindly publishing SPF records. At this point, it's better to have no SPF records and incorrect ones.
