Well, our clients come in various shapes and sizes.... For client with multiple locations, I create an OU for users for each location, and an OU for computers for each location.
For clients with one location, I typically just create a new OU for everyone and one for their computers. We have some clients (our clients are mostly law firms) who sublease space & network resources to other firms (of counsel, etc.). In those instances, I create two OUs for each firm - one for users and one for computers. This gives me greater control over GPOs & such. Granted, the maximum size of any of our clients is ~70 users. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Paul Hutchings Sent: Sunday, February 19, 2006 8:46 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: How do you organize your users/accounts? Until now I've kept all our users in the default Users container in Active Directory. Of course, now that I'm migrating to 2003 I have many more accounts/groups in AD, and AD is not populated with all the useful info that our 5.5 directory contained (i.e. department) I'd like to get our users and groups a little better organized, but I thought I'd canvas some opinions on how others do it before I dive in and simply organize people by department or staff/resources/lists etc. There isn't much in the way of politics to worry about, single domain, all admin is done centrally by me. cheers, Paul -- Paul Hutchings Network Administrator, MIRA Ltd.
