This was a very interesting read. It definitely isn't a blind "Push"
technology that pushes regardless of device state. Instead it only will
push once the device has notified the server that it is on, and requests
monitoring of the specified folder set (which MS calls a heartbeat).

I wouldn't believe all the fud around MS Exchange Activesync push
technology
within Exchange 2003 SP2.  It is "push" in the weakess sense of the
word!
The client mobile device has to poll back to the Exchange server for the
server to then send the messages onto it. The best bit in this is not
having
to pay for the outbound SMS anymore.
