When you say "offline recovery server" does that mean another server by
itself ? Doesn't Exchange 2003 have the ability to isolate the restore
to a recovery database on the same server so that it doesn't overwrite
the production database ?

What you're going to be looking to do is to restore your database to an
offline "recovery server", and use Outlook to move the tasks and
contacts to a PST file. Then you can move them from the PST to your
online mailbox. This is a good opportunity to test your disaster
recovery procedures. While you're doing it you can use ESEUTIL and
ISINTEG to check out the integrity of your database.

Subject: Recovering CONTACTS

Runnign Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 Server.
I downloaded an Excel project plan application that had a Sync with
Outlook Tasks feature. While I was testing the tool, it updated all my
existing tasks and modified them to match the tasks in the project plan.
Teaches me a lesson never to play with test tools in a production
environment. In any case, I would now like to recover my updated
Contacts. Since the tasks have been updated the Deleted Item recovery
won't really help here. Am I looking at a Restore from backup ? If so,
does anyone have a link that could point me in the right direction on
how I can restore just my Contacts ? Thanks RB =
