Are you sure you're not mailing to mailing lists, or, if you are, recipients
are members of multiple lists? Are you sure that these recipients aren't
alternate recipients on other mailboxes? Are you sure that these users
aren't getting messages forwarded by rules?

Subject: Multiple e-mail's

All,

Exchange 2003 SP2, Windows 2000 SP4, 2MB leased line. We have a number of
quite large e-mailings (1000+) that we send out periodically. It seems that
some recipients (it varies) are receiving multiple copies of the e-mail,
usually 3.

I have checked the database extraction and the e-mail before it leaves and I
am certain they are only set as a recipient once. I have also checked the
tracking logs and again the recipient is only listed once.

I limit the number of connections to 50 and have a timeout of 15 minutes and
Outbound retry is set to 1st 10 minutes, 2nd 10 minutes, and 3rd 10 minutes.

As it is various recipients and this changes with each mailing I feel the
issue must be ours. Is it possible that during the transaction when real
busy that our server sends multiple copies, is this possible during the
transaction? I guess I'll trawl through the SMTP logs and try and find
something.

Any pointers on where else to investigate appreciated.

TIA

-Mark
