One problem would be not getting the prompt to authenticate with
alternate credentials, presuming FBA is not enabled.

Which directory?

If it is the /exchange virtual directory then that is normal. Of you are
using SSL (if not, why not) then basic authentication would be enabled.
The only virtual directory that should have anonymous enabled should be
the /exchweb virtual directory.

As your OWA users should be authenticating, I fail to see how enabling
authentication on that directory causes problems.

Subject: OWA settings in IIS changing themselves

Twice in the last week now, my OWA (2003) settings in the 'Exchange' VS
directory under web servers in IIS, have reset -- to uncheck 'anonymous'
access and to check 'integrated Windows authentication'. This screws up
& confuses many of my remote users of OWA. I'm not doing this, and I'm
the only admin. Is my box just rebelling, or any ideas what could
trigger this?

Thanks,

David
