Speaking of stolen catch phrases, I've had a rash of non-delivery complaints lately so I lifted this saying from somewhere on the net and include it in every response I send after tracing down the cause of each. On behalf of the author from whom I stole it, you're free to use it too:
"The essence of the email transfer model is its use of relays that take on some degree of responsibility for moving a message to its destination." And people still don't get it, and ask me what's wrong with our mail server. Arrg. Maybe if I wore a T-Shirt with this saying on the front it might help. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ed Crowley [MVP] Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 11:59 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Strange Outlook behavior I'm okay with it if he gives me credit! But also our desktops are built from scratch (and then imaged) so we have never had any other version of outlook on them. I have feeling that the old outlook settings is the problem in this case. Word integration is much better in OL2003 but...if you think outlook is an attention hog, then you won't like word as an email editor, word bosses outlook [and IE] around heaps. It's just an attention hog. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dean Cunningham Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 2:06 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Strange Outlook behavior Some thoughts Word as the email editor is still the debbill One thing to try is under tools/options/mail format remove any addins to word and use plain text only. If this solves the problem then the word integration may be the issue. Another option is to disable you addins, restart and see if the problem goes away Another option is to create a new user in AD and give them a mailbox, log into a PC and see if the behaviour is the same. If it isn't , then it is a profile issue. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Peter Wood Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 6:11 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Strange Outlook behavior Hi All, Looking for advice on the following issue. At a client site, users with Outlook 2002 do not experience the Outlook behavior that Outlook 2003 users do. When the OLK2K3 user selects 'New Mail Message' the new mail window goes background, i.e., behind the active Outlook window. To get to the new mail message the user has to minimise outlook or select new mail message from the task bar. Scenario is ; Outlook 2003, SP2 and latest fixes (Sept 06) Exchange is 2000 ( SBS 2000 ), SP and latest fixes (Sept 06) Any clues please ?
