Not guilty, Your Honor.

I have made it a rule to NEVER use Word as my e-mail editor, since
macro viruses and the Melissa virus came out.

I don't know what caused the problem, but my good friends Barry and
Darcy helped me figure out the fix.  Even though I am sure I had
already moved the mailbox once, I moved it a second time and Viola!,
it was fine.
