Looks like I had an old cached main page for the Exchange Team Blog,
that SCR section wasn't there yesterday morning when I checked. I did
notice one feature that seems may have changed according to that page.
There was a time (at least I thought there was) where they stated you
could possibly run your back ups from your SCR target, but this doesn't
seem to be the case anymore. But then I could just be getting it
confused with some other article I read about the other replication
types. Or maybe just the article author was just basing it off the fact
you could do it to LCR/CCR and figured SCR would too. Would have been
nice though!

Does not appear to be the case according to these articles:

http://www.windowsitpro.com/articles/print.cfm?articleid=96372

http://blogs.technet.com/ewan/archive/2007/03/02/exchange-2003-2007-clus
tering-amp-high-availability.aspx

But it does require manual failover since it is intended for redundant
data centers, which you wouldn't necessarily want to failover
automatically. The last site has a good overview of all replication
types.

SCr means you will need to already have a cluster right?

i.e.

cluster -> standby server
not
Primary server -> standby server

Have you taken a look at the expected SP1 changes and see if it's worth
waiting for SP1? There are several I see that we use or plan to use
that make me hesitant to upgrade right now.

Changes such as SCR could drastically change your hardware planning if
not taken into account. Also some of the current lacking features in
OWA may be important to you or your users. If you're not up to speed on
PowerShell some of the Management features currently lacking in the
Exchange Management console may turn you off.

The following was taken from:
http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/02/23/435699.aspx

Standby Continuous Replication (SCR)

Such a great feature obviously needed its own name!

With Exchange 2007, we introduced Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR)
for replication of data between 2 servers within a cluster. With SCR,
data can be replicated on a per-storage group basis to standby servers
or clusters. The SCR target, whether a single mailbox server or a
cluster, can be placed inside the primary datacenter or in a remote
location, ready to be manually activated if the primary server or
datacenter fails.

OWA

SP1 will fill in the feature holes that we just didn't have time to
complete by RTM:
Personal distribution lists
S/MIME
Rules
Monthly calendar view
Deleted items recovery
Public folder access

OWA 2007 SP1 spell checking will add support for:
Arabic
Korean

OWA 2007 SP1 will add support for viewing Office 2007 file formats as
HTML.

Exchange Management Console

SP1 will fill in the GUI holes that we just didn't have time to complete
by RTM, including:
Public folder configuration
POP and IMAP configuration
SendAs permission configuration
Delegation wizard scenarios

Web Services

New web service coverage will include:
Public folder access
Delegate management
Folder permission management

IPv6

On Longhorn Server, we will support Exchange 2007 on native IPv6
networks.

Move Mailbox

This vital tool administrator tool has been beefed up to include import
and export to a .pst

I posted the below message and have't gotten a huge response. Is anyone

running Exchange 2007?

I have been away from the list awhile, and it has quieted down a bunch!
Did
I miss an exodus of members?

Thanks, Jim
