I don't believe Exchange is capable of what you are attempting to achieve. I'd
recommending ditching the POP3 server or Exchange.

Subject: Exchange advanced SMTP Configuration ?

I am trying to do something kind of tricky with exchange and Im not having
any luck.

The scenario is I have a domain called grlab.com with 30 or so users
currently using a pop3 linux host as their email provider. Each user has a
forwarder setup with the pop3 host to send a copy of all new emails to
grlab.com. So each user gets their real internet email delivered to their
exchange 2003 account; the pop3 address is company.com. What I want to do is
be able to send email from all of these exchange accounts but have the from
address show up to the recipient as the pop3 domain "company.com" I got this
working by adding a new smtp address for each of these users and setting it
as the primary address in AD.

However there is a problem. If a user opens outlook on exchange and sends
another user an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] the message does not go out
through the internet. Instead the message is delivered locally to their
exchange mailbox. I need the email to go out through the Internet so that a
record of the email is still saved on the pop3 linux host. Then once the
email gets to the linux host it will of course be forwarded to the exchange
account.

Or the other way around this that I cant figure out is to remove the 2nd
smtp address from AD for company.com, but then all emails sent out of
exchange show up as the internal domain grlab.com. Is there a way I can
tell the outlook profile to use a different from address.

For the life of me I can not get this idea to work.

Thanks,
Brett
