Jim, since you don't say so, I have to ask: did you faithfully follow the KB
article on removing the last Exch 5.5 Server
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822450 and the linked articles on how to
switch Internet Connectors, how to remove the first Exch server, how to
remove 5.5 from an org, etc.
If my poor memory does not fail me, if you follow the outlined procedures,
you do not need to move either System Attendant of Free/Busy mailboxes, but
just to be on the safe side, when you're at the point of no return you ought
to shut down the 5.5 for a couple of weeks instead of deleting it.
As for the third mailbox, I quote Jim Kennedy:

in and never got any email. Maybe some service accounts you created and
copied and didn't notice the exchange tab as you went along.....
In ADUC add the Exchange Mailbox store to the view and you will find them.
Right click them and remove Exchange attributes.

I'm about ready to remove my last Exchange 5.5 server. When I go to
delete the server it gives me a message
There are 3 mailboxes and gateways on this server. All these gateways

I'm not sure what the third mailbox or gateway is that it's talking
about. The only connector that exists in the 2003 Exchange System
Manager is "Internet Mail SMTP connector" and that is on a 2003 server.
The Exchange 5.5 Administrator doesn't show any connectors other than
"Internet Mail SMTP connector" either.
Do I need to migrate these two mailboxes? What is the third mailbox or
gateway that I will be deleting when I delete the 5.5 server? Will I
experience negative results if I proceed with removing the 5.5 server?
