They're applications that run based on a public folder or mailbox. I've seen the service fail like that plenty of times and never worried about it. One possible fix, if you really want this service to run, is to run Exchange 5.5 Setup, remove the component, run Setup again, add the component, and then reapply the last service pack and any patches you might have installed. I just restarted our Exchange Server running on Windows2K Server and Exchange 5.5 SP4 and the Event Service refuse to start. There is no error in the Event Viewer and when I try to start it manually it says "that this could be a internal Windows or internal service error". I did find something from Microsoft that had me manually registered 3 dlls See below: regsvr32 exchangedir\bin\scripto.dll regsvr32 exchangedir\bin\ss.dll regsvr32 exchangedir\bin\esconf.dll---that didn't work. I also shutdown the server, that also didn't work. I have been searching and searching but found nothing. If the Event service is not started, will it cause a problem for the rest of the Exchange services? Any help appreciated. Thanks all.
