So I wake up this morning to see my one and only old Exchange 2003 server has a store offline. Checking the logs I find EventID 9518 Source MSExchangeIS and I find http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830408. I try to go to the link on that page to download the troubleshooting assistant and the page does not load correctly ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=4BDC1D6B-DE34-4F1C-AEBA-FED1256CAF9A&displaylang=en). So I find the link on CNET's Download site and was able to install it on the server. (Microsoft must not like that I am in Sacramento and we were able to keep Ballmer from buying the Kings and moving them to Seattle).
I am running the Troubleshooting Assistant and it is at the point of backing up the logs before it resets the log generation number but it looks like it is hanging. The elapsed time is stuck at 38 minutes and it has been an hour. The task manager is showing that it is using CPU that varies from 47% to 50%. Is it stuck? Should I kill it and start over? Where does it backup the logs too? I would like to see if that portion is done, if it tries to backup to the C drive it could run out of space (it still shows 5GB free on the C drive). Is there a way to designate where to backup the logs? Any other suggestions? -- Thank you, Mike Sullivan
