We have set strict mailbox quotas on all users, but with increasing frequency we find that some users Calendars are growing so large that they impede the intended “inbox working room” in our quota settings. It is in our businesses best interest to keep standardized quotas to encourage proper archival of client material, but at the same time we can’t afford to restrict our “well behaved” users (i.e. those with larger calendars) from sending emails to clients. It is also in our businesses best interest to allow users to keep unusually long calendar histories.
Initially I explored the possibility of setting a scope (i.e. don’t include calendars in size calculation) on the mailbox quota with Microsoft support, but ultimately we were informed there is no such functionality. Now I am researching 3rd party archive products for Calendar items. Does anyone have any good or bad experience with these products, and how well do they make the Calendar items available (i.e. normal mailbox calendar objects are viewable via Outlook, OWA, and EAS). Our environment is Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3 on Server 2008 R2 with a CAS array and a multimode DAG. Your time and expertise on this subject would be very helpful. Thank you. Keith D.
