What are you running for AV? Are you filtering mail with a device or on the server itself? We had a similar issue a while back and it turned out to be our spam filtering putting a load on it.

I have stopped and started the Transport service a couple of times and rebooted each server once. Mail flow runs OK for a few minuites after the restart. Then climbs to the high usage level and mail flow stops. I have a call into Microsoft PS, waiting for a call back. Does anyone have any other suggestions. -- T.
