Got it fixed without having to restart System Attendant. Disabled mail, then enabled mail on the folder. This allowed me to get to the email properties. The email address was automatically generated as [email protected]. When I tried to rename it, it said that an object with that address already existed. I had to go into ADUC Exchange System Objects and delete the offending entry. Once I did that I was able to put the proper email address in there. I think we're good.

Forgot to mention there's a DAG involved, if that's relevant. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Maglinger, Paul Sent: Tuesday, October 28, 2014 11:32 AM To: New Exchange List ([email protected]) Subject: [Exchange] "The active directory proxy object for the public folder is being generated. Please try again later." Exchange 2010 - had a mail enabled public folder that was accidentally deleted. I was able to recover the folder using Outlook but when checking the Exchange General and E-Mail Addresses properties from the EMC I get the following error: "The active directory proxy object for the public folder is being generated. Please try again later." Items I found on the web suggest restarting the System Attendant service. Does this need to be restarted on all the mailbox servers or will restarting it on a single server fix it? -Paul
