If so, I think that could be a problem. Might work if you set them up in Outlook as different user profiles and let the user select the profile at startup? -Bonnie From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Richard McClary Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2015 7:21 AM To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: [Exchange] Email to local SMTP server from Outlook in a hosted environment Greetings! If not thoroughly bewildered by the Subject:... Our messaging system is through a hosted Exchange provider, and we use MS Outlook2007. We have an email-to-fax gateway which has SMTP services enabled (and working). I have used Pegasus Mail to send fax requests to it through SMTP. However, we are needing to have our users able to send SMTP mail to it through their Outlook client. On my test laptop, I have set up an account with my name on the SMTP server and listing the SMTP server as both the SMTP and POP3 servers. (It does not do POP3, but we do not need it for that.) Although I tested the mail with the internal SMTP host account as "the default", my test faxes failed because they all went to our external Exchange host. (For the record, the MX record at the time for the SMTP server, the only MX record for our LAN, was 15.) Is there another setting I could have used for my "use local SMTP" account to keep mail requests internal? Might having the Mx record set at "5" have made a difference? Again, using Pegasus Mail, test faxes to an account set up using that SMTP server work.
