I hate to ask what may be an obvious question, but is the user performing the install a member of the "Enterprise Admins" and "Schema Admins" groups?

Please use caution when clicking links or opening attachments in this message. ________________________________ A long time ago, we had Exchange 2010 on premise. We then migrated to an O365-D environment, and I uninstalled Exchange 2010 on prem. Now, we’re working on migrating from the Dedicated environment into the O365-G environment. Part of this process is installing a couple of Exchange servers for the migration, then for administrative tools afterwards. Right now, I’m trying to prepare the schema for the Exchange install. I downloaded the Exchange 2016 binary, and ran the following command: Setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms I got an error: [cid:[email protected]] In the exchangesetup.log, I see these two lines that relate to the above error: [07/29/2016 14:21:50.0798] [0] Exchange configuration container for the organization is 'CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=XX,DC=XXX,DC=XX,DC=XXX'. [07/29/2016 14:21:50.0814] [0] No Exchange organization container was found for the organization. Message: 'Couldn't find the Enterprise Organization container.'. If I go into ADSI Edit, I see the Microsoft Exchange object at the indicated location, and it is empty. We thought that maybe the 2016 install was seeing some remnants of the Exchange 2010 install, so we figured we’d run the commands for Exchange 2013 first, then again for 2016. So, I did that this morning. I get the same error as above. The next step we were thinking of was to delete the Microsoft Exchange object in ADSI Edit, to see if that makes a difference, but I’m leery of manipulating ADSI Edit just to see what happens. Anyone have any ideas/advice on this one?
