Kevin,

As I understand it the port is picked by the client, rather like source
ports, so you'll probably get the next available.

If you want to put notifications through a firewall, it would be best to use
a VPN.

regards,
Richard Dann

Subject: New mail notification port(s)

Does anyone know the theory behind the randomization of new mail
notification ports? I understand that it can be anywhere between 1024 and
65k. Is that one for each client, picked randomly from what's unused, or is
there something else to it?

    Kevin
