For your information I have just upgraded my Mailsweeper to version 413 and
it now has the ability to look inside files to find other unauthorised
filetypes. This it does automatically and came as a bit of a shock as it is
now preventing my users from sending word docs out with certain graphics!
PBB.
P.s - any chance of a copy of Windows 20000, I won't tell anyone ;-}

*** WARNING - THIS MESSAGE ORIGINATES FROM THE INTERNET ***
Dan's right. Whatever solution you will have will never work 100%. It's a
lot better to make it a heavily advertised policy.
There are many packages you can look at for Content Filtering. In addition
to mailsweeper you can check MMS from Tumbleweed Communications which is a
comparable product. A cheaper alternative would be Praetor from Computer
Mail Services (www.cmsconnect.com) and eManager from Trend Micro if you're
already running their virus scanners.
How do you like Windows 20000? Are you running the Alpha code? How buggy
is it?
S.

There is no way to prevent that except to use a prog that would look for key
word, but even then, I would juts zip and password protect the file...
If you need to do that, use the journaling facility of Exchange (Q239427) to
log all outgoing/incoming internet msg, do some spot check, archive to
cdrom, fire the first offender, do a lot of internal publicity about it,
restart the process every 2 weeks... Peoples forget fast!!!
Don't forget in the first place to prepare a written policy about that, get
it check by your layer(?attorney? how is it spell? AVOCAT) make everybody
sign the policy with their blood, make sure that you can secure each station
and prove that the sender of the e-mail is really who you think he his , not
somebody using his/her station,... and , in the end, it's a lost cause...
Education is the key and a little slap help sometime... btw, what about
porn being send in your e-mail system?

Objet: please recommend an exchange 5.5 security add on
Hi,
I run a small company in Northern Canada and have been looking for the last
year for an application that I can run with Exchange 5.5 or NT 4 that will
prevent staff form attaching certain confidential files to their Out going
messages. Does anybody know of any such program? How about an add on for NT
4 to prevent users from printing certain confidential files?
We are running windows 20000 on our desktops.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated
