Turn on protocol logging and see the full session. I suspect that the
recipient server is advertising that it supports commands that it in
actuality does not.

Subject: SMTP 5.5.0 Error - HELP!!!
Hi all,
My Exchange 2000 Server decided to stop sending mail to some recipient
domains. As expected, there are NO KB articles with information on this
error, and no events are being thrown to the NT event logs (surprise).
After looking at the SMTP logs, I see that the recipient server appears
to be erroring out when the BDAT command is requested.
The bounce and the SMTP logs listed below.
Platform - Windows 2000 AS SP2 / Exchange 2000 Server SP1
