My name is David and I had my OOA on (wait for "Hello David")... For this I
apologize to everyone I offended. Luckily about 30 of you nice people were
kind enough to reply and let me know the error of my ways. These responses
ranged from the helpful (see below) to the profanity-laced ramblings of the
incoherent. All I can say is that I have now gone the public route which I
kept neglecting to do despite the simplicity of doing so but I did want to
include the one set of instructions I received that actually were intended
for good (thanks Mich�le). As for allowing internet OOA replies... In a
field such as the legal one it's simply not an option to prevent them. I
guess it just shows how far email has come to be accepted in the real world.
My apologies once again and if anyone else is an OOA offender, they cannot
say they didn't have the info.
To avoid sending OOFs to mailing lists, please do the following:
1. Create a Public Folder & name it whatever you want to. Make a note of
its SMTP address.
2. Subscribe that SMTP address to the mailing list.
3. Set your own mail subscription to the "no mail" option.
Then, the PF will receive all mail sent to the list & since PFs can't be out
of the office, they won't return OOFs. You, however, can still have OOFs
set up to go to the internet (if you really want to) AND can still post to
the list.
Then *everyone* will be happy!
