We used to have attachment problems with OWA ourselves. I found if you
upgrade to the latest and greatest IE Explorer all those problems seem
to disappear. Have you checked with your users to ensure they have the
latest and greatest IE?

Why would they crap on NT/Exchange. Although (personally) I think
GroupWise/NDS is way more manageable and easy to setup/configure there
is
nothing wrong with Exchange/NT. If you can, get the other side to give
you a
copy of their gwia.cfg and then post it here...exclude the ipaddresses
in
the gwia and the server name and I can take a look at it.

I would like to do that Rocky, but then they would crap on NT/exchange
stuff, so I would like to first research this and see if anyone else has
seen it and fixed it or if it just will not work this way due to the
attatchments being converted too many times, thanks alot for all your
input
sounds like you are familiar with Novell/groupwise... Do you know how to
tell what is the version of owa running on the server and if their are
updated files to use ??

Sounds like a misconfigured Internet access agent on their part but
they
may be using an even old version of the gateway called the smtp gateway.
Why
not have them setup GroupWise WebAcess? It takes literally 10 minutes
and is
secure as hell running on Netscape on Netware.

Subject: RE: OWA Cannot Open Attatchment problem
The messages that fail such as a .doc attatchment which was forwarded
from
Groupwise 5.5 to Exchange 5.5 from Recipient A on groupwise to Recipient
A
on Exchange meaning it is the same user who has accounts on 2 different
mail
systems, the reason they are using OWA is that the Novell folks dont
have
any system set up for remote checking of mail and the users who cant
open up
the attatchments are in odd parts of the world , so the messages that
fail
always have an icon that says mime under it, then the original
attatchment,
these are the ones that are failing, if I take that message and save it
to
my disk then create a new mail it and send it to the user, meaning it
wasnt
being forwarded , and I log into that users owa box, it opens just fine,
and
it doesnt have the mime attatchement at the bottom only the original
attatchment, the ones being forwarded from Groupwise 5.5 both have mime
icon
and attatchment icon and they fail ??? thanks

First off,
Have you asked the other admins on the GroupWise side to make sure they
have
their gwia.cfg setup properly. It should be set to send mime encoded
messages only but I have seen some misconfigured ones as well.

Subject: OWA Cannot Open Attatchment problem
I have an Exchange 5.5 SP4 / On an NT 4.0 SP6 box, the problem I am
having
is with attatchments, another company who uses Groupwise 5.5 is
automatically forwarding messages for a few mailboxes that are over on
my
Exchange 5.5 server, so whenever a message comes in with an attatchment
it
is automatically forward to company.com from Corporate.com, the users
who
get the following message when using Outlook Web access with IE 5.5:
cannot open that type of attatcment it is unknown
The OWA is on the same Exchange 5.5 server I mentioned above, so the
problem
looks like this ,whenever a message is forwarded with an attatchment it
cannot be opened, but if I send a new message with an attatchment these
OWA
users dont have any problems Thanks
