I recently made changes to the IMS on my Exchange 5.5/SP 4 server in order
to resolve issues with open-relay. My server was being used (abused) by
spammers.

For those of you (if any) that might not know how to minimize spamming,
the change requires selecting Routing Restrictions from the Routing tab on
the IMS and then setting the check mark on Host and Clients with these IP
addresses without specifying any real IP addresses (leave the window
blank). This will force the IMS to verify that at least the source or
destination email address is contained within the GAL.

My problem is that I have another Exchange server within a different site
which exchanges messages with my server via RAS and X.400 addresses
(custom recipients). Since this other server uses my IMS to get messages
out to the Internet and the users are not in my GAL, all internet-bound
traffic is returned (NDRs) with error 550 - relaying prohibited.

Is there a work around this issue without having to create these remote
users within my GAL with delivery the an alternate address?

TIA
