Tragedy begins The world stares at the horror Sadness and sorrow -----Original Message----- From: Ben Schorr [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, September 11, 2001 2:56 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: US Nightmare Actually, I think the "normal" postings are extremely important. Despite this horrible, cowardly, act I don't believe that we can allow the terrorists to disrupt our lives any more than necessary. Sitting here in Hawaii there is little I can directly do to help those people in New York who need it so desperately -- I send my best wishes and hopes that any who can be saved will be saved. In the meantime, in the interests of our way of life, I think it's important that we try to carry on as best we can. If we shut everything down and sit around looking sad then the terrorists have won. As I sat, half-awake, this morning incredulously watching the video feeds from New York, the one thing that seemed to restore sanity to the situation was a sound I usually dislike -- the regular Tuesday morning garbage truck making its way dutifully up the street as it does every Tuesday. Reminded me that the world continues to spin and I need, for the sake of my family and friends (and myself), to get up and take care of my business despite what's going on around us. Now is the time for courage and resolve. In my humble opinion. -Ben- Ben M.
